Event Description

Announcing the 2017 Young Innovators Summer Camp, the competitive STEAM-focused training event for students ages 8 thru 18, taking place July 24th through the 28th at the Bossier Arts Council.

This highly-anticipated camp is designed to inspire students to “think outside the box” and creatively solve real-world problems using the tools provided, preparing them for 21st century challenges by exposing them to opportunities to ask questions, collaborate and innovate through core STEAM standards.  In addition, our experienced staff will teach students how to apply these concepts by designing hands-on projects to demonstrate their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and art through literacy and mathematics.

Finally, students participating in this Summer Camp will be able to use the skills learned to better compete in national STEM/STEAM challenges, such as "Odyssey of the Mind", "Destination Imagination", and the Imagination Foundation's "Cardboard Challenge".

The Camp takes place Monday thru Friday, from 8:00AM to 4:00PM.  The registration fees includes all of the materials and learning resources that your child will receive, a camp t-shirt and lesson binder, plus drinks and snacks.  Once you are registered, you will receive a welcome packet that will provide additional details.

"The U.S. will have more than 1.2 million job openings in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)-related occupations by 2018. These include scientists, doctors, software developers and engineers. Yet, there will be a significant shortage of qualified college graduates to fill these careers.  For the U.S. to succeed and continue to play a leadership role in addressing tough global challenges, we must do a better job of engaging students in these subjects and encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM-related fields. Here is a look at how early education plays a part in inspiring students to seek a higher education in STEM and what motivates students to pursue STEM-related fields."
